Vinyl Windows Are Durable And Stylish

Posted on: 3 August 2016

Do you have an old home with aging, inefficient, leaky windows? If so, you probably want a new product that will be cheap and easy to maintain. If this is what you are looking for, vinyl is a great option. Some homeowners don't choose vinyl because they mistakenly think it looks cheap. In reality, you don't need to sacrifice style if you are looking for a practical product like vinyl. This article explains some of the great vinyl styles and why it is such a practical option for most homeowners.

Vinyl Styles

Vinyl does not just look like plastic. In fact, it comes in a wide variety of textures and colors. Of course, most people do prefer a neutral color for their windows. But, if you want a bold, bright or dark color, you have a lot of options if you opt for vinyl. There are range of colors and textures that you can mix and match if you choose a product from a catalog or window store. Furthermore, you can find many manufacturers who offer custom coloring on their most popular styles. So, you can match your existing colors if your home has a unique color scheme. You can also find capped vinyl windows. These caps have prints that mimic the natural finish of materials like wood and stone. These obviously look stylish, but they don't look exactly like the real thing. It is best to have a look at these products in person, so you can decide whether or not they look authentic enough.

Vinyl Durability

Perhaps the most obvious selling point of vinyl is the fact that it is so durable and easy to keep up. It is perfectly waterproof and you don't need to take any special steps to keep it that way. That is, you don't need to stain or paint it with a waterproof coat. In fact, vinyl window sashes are solid, so there is no top, or painted, layer that can get scratched off or fade away. Since it is waterproof, cleaning a vinyl window is a piece of cake. Whenever you are cleaning your glass panes, you can also wipe down your sashes with the same cleaning liquid. If you need to clean the exterior side of your windows, you can just spray them off with a hose.

Since vinyl is stylish, durable and easy to maintain all at once, it is always going to be a popular option.

Choosing Great Looking Windows

After I fixed up my yard, I realized that my home itself could use some curb appeal. I decided that one of the biggest eyesores on my home other than the porch with the flaking paint was the windows, so I started shopping for replacements. I was able to find a great deal at a local window shop, and to my surprise, they had a large variety of windows available. It was incredible to find windows that were as functional as they were beautiful, and when they were installed I was really pleased with the outcome. This blog is all about choosing great looking windows.
